Breath of Fresh Air: A Summer Yoga Getaway on Moon Acres

  • Yoga House on Moon Acres (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Come away with me this summer for a weekend getaway to southwest Michigan. We will unwind from the city energy, connect to the surrounding nature vibes, practice yoga and eat delicious vegetarian food.

The house sits on Moon Acres, 14 acres of wooded trails, open fields and sky. The house has a bonfire pit, organic gardens, a large family style dining table and lots of space to relax and connect. In season, there are pear, apple and mulberry trees, black raspberries, a 1.5-acre garden that we cook from, herbs, chickens, ducks and honey bees.

The owner, Clare, is our fabulous host who will cook us nourishing, local and seasonal meals and will guide us through a hike in the dunes.

On the land are 2 puppies, 5 barn cats, 10 ducks, 8 chickens, and bee hives.

There are 4 bedrooms: 3 are doubles and 1 is a triple with shared bathrooms.

 ————————————————————————————————————————————————

On late Friday afternoon we will meet in Michigan for a sweet, flowing practice at 5pm, followed by our first delicious meal together. Feel free to arrive anytime after 3pm to settle in and explore the land.

Saturday, we will start off with an energizing yoga practice followed by a nourishing breakfast. The day really is yours to explore. An option for a guided hike, drive to Weko Beach (10 minutes), Silver Beach (20 minutes) to soak in the water of Lake Michigan, or explore the local town. We will gather up at Haymarket Tap Room for a tour and lunch (food and drinks included). As the day winds down, we will settle in for a more restorative yoga practice. Our final dinner followed by a bonfire with s’mores.

Sunday morning will be our final yoga practice in the oasis away from the city followed by a decadent brunch.

Departure at Noon.

What’s Included?

Clean, Zen-country accommodations

5 Curated Organic Meals

Tour, lunch and tasting at Haymarket Tap Room

4 Yoga Classes taught by me

Nightly bonfires with s’mores

Guided hike

Extras:

60-minute private intuitive Reiki session $150

Card Readings $35

*Aside from drinks at Haymarket Brewery, booze is not included so feel free to BYOB for the weekend!

DATES AND PRICE:

Friday August 9th to Sunday August 11th

$600 with a $100 non-refundable deposit to lock your spot.

Please e-mail me at alison.riazi@gmail.com for inquiries and to sign up! Space is limited!

In the occurrence of a cancellation within one month of the retreat, you will receive a 50% refund.

FYI: There are 2 dogs and one kitten within the house. The indoor animals are a part of Yoga House experience and are trained to be in service to people. The kitten does not go into the bedrooms and the house will be cleaned of any pet dander. The barn is a growing adventure and expecting new life to arrive all summer.

The house is in the woods and lives amongst Michigan’s wildlife. If you chose to hike the Dunes there is risk of ticks, bees and other bugs as well as poison ivy and sunburns. Long pants, shirts and socks for your hiking adventures is strongly recommended.

The Journey Within: A Yoga + Mindfulness Intensive

You are invited to join Angie Starz, Lauren Bellagamba, Alison Riazi and Claire Ridge for an incredible journey of inquiry and investigation!

🎇 This intensive style training was created out of necessity.  Over the years, we collectively saw the need for an in-depth exploration of Yoga and Mindfulness that was structured to support a curious student of life - someone who wanted more than they were getting from group classes, workshops or private sessions.  This year, we heeded the call to curate a training that did just that.  We are thrilled to invite you on a thoughtful, comprehensive and collaborative experience aptly called, The Journey Within - A Yoga + Mindfulness Intensive.

🎇 If you choose to accept this invitation you can expect to:

  • Dive into an interactive exploration of the systems of Yoga + Mindfulness

  • Discover tangible techniques and practices that will empower you to develop a sustainable home practice

  • Rekindle your relationship with your Self in a safe space through deep practice and reflection

  • Recharge your connection to peace and ease by learning how to better manage stress

  • Peel back the layers of self doubt and fear that hold you back from practicing and living from your heart

  • Awaken to your true potential as student and human being in body, mind and heart

Each session will begin with a full length practice incorporating Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (breathwork), Meditation, Mantra, Mudra and Mindfulness techniques.  We'll spend the rest of the day exploring the following topics through experiential learning (i.e NOT sitting in lecture, but rather engaging with the content in a meaningful way):

  • Asana: posture dissection (including challenging shapes like arm balances and inversions), safe and sustainable alignment, physical anatomy + biomechanics

  • Pranayama: breath exercises, energetic anatomy including the Koshas, Nadis and Chakras

  • Meditation: interdisciplinary exploration of meditation including mindfulness meditation, yogic meditation, intuitive meditation

  • Ayurveda: overview of Yoga's sister science that gives more insight into living life in accordance with your unique Dosha

  • Mindful Living: eating, sleeping, self care and communication strategies for greater overall wellness

  • Philosophy: interesting conversation about the ethos and philosophies of Yoga + Mindfulness
